Ok so last weekend was the best weekend ever if you take out my 104 temperature, my strep throat and the flu. Friday morning Faith and I decided to go to the Dallas Farmers market after taking Corwin to school (daddy was home from work so we were babyless yea!).
First we had to gather up mommies reusable grocery bags. I have an embarrassingly mismatched collection going from various grocery stores but matching bags are so on my Christmas list. The problem is that I already have a billion bags so it is not very frugal to ask for more :(
So once I finally made it to the market (I always turn towards fair park. It is not towards fair park. ) Faith and I did some serious shopping. This was pretty easy since we were the only ones there. Evidently the DFM is not really hoppin on Friday mornings in November. Faith had a blast picking things out and trying lots of samples. She even got to pull the wagon. Isn't she cute?
While we shopped we talked all about why it is better to buy from the farmers than at a grocery store. She was very interested in the farmers. We talked about how our food comes from God and we should pray for the farmers and how easy it is for us to fill a wagon full of fresh food and most people on earth do not have enough to eat.
Her reward for being so well behaved at the market was a trip to Stan the Aggie's flower shop. If you are ever at the market you have to visit Stan!! I love buying flowers at the market. We really need to buy some trees but we keep killing ours. We have had at least four in the front yard and they are all dead :(
this is what Faith picked out. I have no idea what it is.
Let me see if I can remember everything we got. Faith picked brown eggs, roma tomatos, cilantro, bell peppers, lettuce, green beans, broccoli, celery, onions, zuchinni, grapes, carrots, mushrooms, apples, watermellon and bananas. Plus the plant of course.
So shopping was done and we raced home because mommy was super tired. It was now like 10am but daddy was off work so I was hopeing to get a nap. Mike, Scotts dad, had shown up while we were gone and brought pressies!!! I had just been telling Scott that I want to start a collection of napkins so we arn't using paper towels every night at dinner and I came home to this.........
Two thumbs up for lots of napkins and material for towels and the old place mats I plan to cut up for dish rags so we can stop spending money on those chemical filled bacteria breeding yellow and green scrub thingies. Mike had no idea how excited I was that he brought this stuff down!!! He did look at me funny when I took a picture of it though haha.
He also brought me his and molly's first dish set they got when they got married. It is a little country for my kitchen but it is free and there are tons and tons of serving dishes and bowls and a matching teapot. I have never had just a normal teapot. All of mine are collectors items. I was pretty excited but starting to get feverish at this point so thankfully I did get a nap.
This isn't the best picture but I just couldn't believe how many pieces there were in this set!
After my nap we went and picked Corwin up from school and headed to West End with my father in law and his friend for dinner. West End is so sad to me without the mall. I used to live there (well and deep ellum sshh) when I was in college. We ate dinner at Spaghetti warehouse were I started getting a lovely headache and case of shakes and pretty much had two bites of my chicken parmigiana. Mike bought our dinner because he is so wonderful and then took us all to the King Tut exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art!!!!!!! It was amazing. Ok at this point I was really starting to get dizzy but Corwin was so enthralled. He patiently looked at each piece and listened to Scott talk about them and even asked questions. It was the coolest thing ever. I was so impressed. Faith and Tara of course were bored out of their minds so I just took them through to the end where Tara could walk around and Faith could hang out since I new I was going to have to make a return trip without kids or flu. I was barely standing at this point and as soon as I saw Scott again I got the keys and ran out to the car to collapse. If it wern't for me being so sick, it would have been the best day ever.
THE END
